Conor Doherty is the top GCSE Manufacturing student in N.I

news

For the second consecutive year one of our students’ has collected the award for First place in North Irelands GCSE Manufacturing qualification. This year Conor Doherty collected the award at a fantastic event Celebrating Success with CCEA in the Titanic Building in Belfast on the 1st May.

Conor Doherty is pictured with Principal Mr F McConnell and his Manufacturing teacher Mr K Kelly.

Mr Kelly, Conor’s Manufacturing teacher stated “it was a pleasure to assist Conor and last year Richard Connaughton with their great achievements; both quietly confident young men with an aptitude for problem solving, who I have no doubt, will have great careers in design engineering and manufacture!”

To achieve the award Conor had to produce a wooden and acrylic child’s pull along toy cart, a full design portfolio from concept to final technical drawings and sit two exam papers – ‘no easy task’.

Congratulations to Conor and his teacher Mr Kelly on this fantastic achievement.
