Maximum Matthew

Congratulations to CBS Art & Design student Matthew Quinn, who achieved maximum marks in both his Coursework and Exam in the 2016 NI CCEA GCSE Art & Design Examination. Matthew’s Controlled Assessment Unit 1 Core Portfolio comprised a body of work inspired by the theme of Botanical Surfaces in Nature, consisting of a wide range of detailed primary source botanical plant studies in a range of drawing and painting media. Matthew further developed these detailed botanical studies into a Graphic Design Final Outcome using his skills in Adobe Photoshop to produce a range of seasonal commercial Royal Mail Stamp Designs. Such was the high standard of this Controlled Assessment component portfolio of work that full marks were awarded by CCEA.

This was also the case for Matthew’s Examination Unit 2 Working to a Stimulus, where full marks were also awarded by the CCEA moderator. Again due to the high standard of his exam observational Architectural studies inspired by the theme Viewpoints and developed into an abstract Portrait Final Outcome, that the CCEA moderator also awarded full marks.

This is a fantastic achievement for Matthew of which the Art department and school is extremely proud.
