On Saturday the 8th February we held our annual 10/5k run and walk. This event has grown to become a significant event in our school calendar. Despite the threat of storm Ciara a huge crowd turned up to provide us with some very competitive racing. 287 runners competed in the 10k race with 120 participating in the 5k race/walk.
The aim of the CBS 10K/5K Run/Walk is too raise £3000 for Sables Nua which is a centre for the most vulnerable children in Kabwe, Zambia. It offers free food, clothing, medical care, accommodation, counselling, education and vocational training for over two hundred and eighty street children and other orphaned and vulnerable children. Sables Nua is a place of refuge, of hope, of happiness for some of the most needy children you could imagine. The children come from the streets of Kabwe; they have lost their parents to disease, been rejected by their families and forced onto the street to beg or steal in an effort to stay alive. The Centre has taken these children, in many cases literally, off the streets and given them a place of comfort and safety.

We would also like to acknowledge our senior prefects who did an excellent job in marshalling today’s races.
