Job description

As a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice in our Water Asset Management team in Belfast, one day can be completely different to the next. Our team work with water companies to assess the condition and performance of water and wastewater systems, identifying solutions to ensure sustainable operation and maintenance strategies. Your role will be varied and your learning will be fast paced. You may be involved with taking concepts and ideas from architects or engineers and creating software drawings and designs. Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Achieved/be predicted A Levels (or equivalent) at BBC. To study Engineering subjects you will need a grade C in Maths or further Maths. Or you will have achieved/be predicted a BTEC Extended Diploma (Level 3) with grades DDM in Engineering.

Desirable Skills

  • You will have achieved 5 GCSEs grade C/Level 5 or above including English, Maths and Science.
  • Communication skills. Attention to detail. Organisation skills. Problem solving skills. Team working.

As a Degree Apprentice at WSP you will be a full-time, permanent employee, getting paid while working on real-world projects from day one. With support from your experienced team and dedicated buddy, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an inspiring environment.

You’ll start your apprenticeship in September 2025, attending a local university for either one day per week or block placement, gaining a full undergraduate degree in your chosen subject. Typically, the Degree Apprenticeship takes between 5-6 years to complete (including End Point Assessment in England).

Our dedicated Early Careers team will work closely with you over the course of your apprenticeship to support and plan a development pathway that suits you.
