Queen’s University Belfast
Delivered by The Smallpeice Trust and in partnership with Thales, this course invites students aged 12-14 to learn about three different engineering topics that they could study in the future and pursue as a career.
Combining fun, action-packed days with a programme of evening social activities, this course will be delivered by experienced STEM Engagement Specialists.
The modules covered will be:
- Cyber Security – learn about the basic principles of cyphers, encryption and cyber safety. Through fun puzzles and videos, students will discover the importance of strong passwords, online research, and privacy.
- Electrical Engineering – students will get the opportunity to experiment safely with soldering as they work in teams to design, build and test their own FM radios, learning about the basic principles of circuits.
- Space – Students will design and build prototype spacecraft while exploring their real-world applications in communication, research and space exploration.
All students will be fully catered for and stay within secure university accommodation. Each student will have their own room and bathroom facilities with access to a social communal area that they can use to socialise with other peers.
