Finance Virtual Work Experience

During this free two-week virtual work experience programme you’ll learn about a range of financial services sectors including accountancy, banking and insurance. You’ll meet, and have the chance to question and interact with, professionals from each of these key sectors. You’ll learn about the day-to-day lives of these professionals as well as the pathways they took to their current roles. Finally, you’ll complete work and assignments which will help you gain a broad understanding of the finance industry
The virtual work experience programme involves around 10 hours of activity. You can complete the work over 2 weeks, meaning you can fit it around your schedule – whether that be school or college. There are live workshops, but don’t worry if you’re unable to attend these – you can watch recordings on-demand.
The programme will take place between 15th February 2021 and 26th February 2021. You do not need to be available full time between those dates, but you do need to be able to complete 10 hours worth of activity over the two weeks.
What’s you’ll cover:
During this two week programme you’ll cover the following areas:
- An overview of the UK’s financial industry
- Accountancy: its theory and the associated ethics and laws
- The UK tax system
- Banking, including investment banking, auditing, trading, security and fraud
- Insurance: you’ll learn what’s involved in broking, claims handling, and surveying
- Financial advice, including investment, mortgage and pensions advice
What you need to do to get your first job in the industry. Do you need to go to university? Can you do an apprenticeship? We’re confident that this session will give you a clear idea of how to get into Finance.
Eligibility
You must be in Years 11-14 and attend a school or college in the UK. The deadline for applications is February 1st 2021. Applicants will find out if they have a place on the programme on February 5th 2021.
