Free National Study Skills Programme

Study Mentor-340

Medic Mentor’s free National Study Skills Programme are a series of virtual webinars for students to use and support them alongside their academic studies. This programme will have a positive impact on academic attainment and wellbeing support for students this year – and it is free!

Places will be allocated on a ‘first-come-first-served basis’, and students can register for free with this conference registration form and the fields are NOT mandatory. Students can skip fields that they do not wish to complete but it will help us and their teachers track their progress through programme: https://airtable.com/appaypcxGI0Xqbp5C/shrHPWt01RPcs3d9g

Conferences Dates:
Sunday 5th November 11am-1pm
Saturday 11th November 11am-1pm
If neither of these are suitable, students can select ‘add me to the waiting list’ to be notified of more conference dates if and when they become available.

Conference Agenda:
Introduction: Unlocking Academic Excellence – The Importance of Study Skills & Exam Techniques
Section 2: The Power of Effective Study Habits
Interactive Session: “Study Styles: Which One Are You?”
Section 3: Memory Boosters for Exam Prep
Section 4: Conquering Exam Anxiety
Section 5: A Day Before the Exam
Section 6: Exam Techniques specific to Exam Boards such as AQA, OCR and EDEXCEL

During the conference, we will help students identify what style of learner they are, and how to employ memory and study techniques that suit them most. We will explore active recall, spaced repetition, the pomodoro technique and how to make use of the most appropriate revision methods and resources such as mind mapping, flashcards and practice questions.

In addition, we will identify students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds to offer them completely free virtual tutoring support for Biology and Chemistry (so far), and if the programme demonstrates good results, we will be extending this provision to more subjects in January. You can find the details of our additional tutoring support here: https://medicmentor.org/widening-access-for-all/

Please note that this is suitable for students exploring ANY career and not just medicine. There will be more dates announced for conferences if there is enough demand. If students cannot make the above dates, please ask them to select the ‘add me to the waiting list’ option and we will contact them first with more dates.
