FREE Virtual Work Experience Programme – Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary

The Medic Mentor Programme has now relaunched as a free resource students can access any time of day as E-learning. This is a fantastic free resource for students to know about as it will help them make an informed decision about a career in Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary.

Once pupils complete all sessions, they also receive a certificate which can be used as part of their application to Medical, Dental or Veterinary School.

At Medic Mentor we are always striving to level the playing field when it comes to applying to Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary. This free work experience aims to help raise aspirations and find the next brilliant mind to join these fields.

February explores Intensive Care.
Intensive Care units (ICU) look after the most critically unwell patients in the hospital and so it is usually incredibly challenging to see what happens inside. Join us and see behind-the-scenes of intensive care with our high fidelity simulations and learn the unique workings of the MDT in ICU.

Throughout February applying veterinary students years 11-14 in NI will have access to:

February session explores lambing and sheep husbandry. Lambing is most students’ favourite placement and we are really excited to be streaming it to students. Although a lot of joy comes with lambing, it is also a key placement where resilience is required to deal with the loss of lambs.

Throughout February applying dental students years 11-14 in NI will have access to:

February explores introduction to the team at Dental Mentor Smiles where they will get to see a range of both child and adult patient consultations. This includes a possible oral cancer diagnosis, aesthetic solutions and child safeguarding concerns. There will be debriefing sessions of each of the cases and opportunities to ask questions directly to the dental team!
