Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP) Work Insight & Skills Experience 2024

  • The award-winning Social Mobility Business Partnership is running its Belfast Work Insight & Skills Experience (WISE) 24th – 27th June for pupils aged 16 – 18.
  • Pupils will spend time with three high-profile organisations and will learn about their business, career routes available, and develop key skills in interactive business-like tasks.
  • Pupils will also learn about the psychology of resilience, coping mechanisms, and goal achievement models.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day, and all travel costs will be reimbursed.

Programme Background

  • Since 2014, SMBP has grown from offering opportunities to 20 students in London, to co-ordinating over 3000 student days across the UK in 2023 through our award-winning Work Insight & Skills Experience (WISE) Programme.
  • SMBP Programmes are designed with the Gatsby Career Benchmarks in mind. Research from the Education and Employers Taskforce shows that a young person who has four or more meaningful encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training and can earn up to 22% more during their careers.
  • SMBP WISE is completely free for students to attend, with lunch provided and travel costs covered. Throughout the WISE week, pupils will spend time with four high-profile organisations and will learn about their business, career routes available, and develop key skills in interactive business-like tasks.
  • You could have the chance to visit companies in Belfast such as: PwC, Herbert Smith Freehills, BT, Allen and Overy, Ulster University, EY and Belfast City Council.
