Important Information for Parents

Attention

As you may be aware, a member of non-teaching staff at the Christian Brothers’ Grammar School, Omagh has been charged this week with serious alleged criminal offences. We have been assured by the police that the allegations against the member of staff do not arise from their employment within this school and do not involve any pupils who attend this school.

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils will always be our paramount concern. We have issued a Precautionary Suspension to the member of staff, pending an investigation. We have also been liaising closely with the Education Authority’s Child Protection Support Service and can assure you that we have taken all necessary steps required to address the matter and ensure pupil safety and wellbeing.

We are very aware that this information may cause upset or distress for your son. Do not hesitate to contact a member of our Safeguarding Team at the school if you have concerns about his wellbeing or if you think he requires individual support. Our Safeguarding Team is comprised of Mr Anthony White, Mrs Mary Devlin and Mr Ciaran McBride and they can be contacted via the school reception on 02882243567.

Over the holiday period pupils feeling vulnerable or seeking help should contact the Gateway Team (02871314090) or Childline (0800 1111). We have also placed on our school website contact details for organisations that provide support to young people which may be useful to you.
