Faulkner Browns Architects-340

Duration: 1 Day   25th May 2021 10am – 2pm

Application Closing Date: 30th April 2021

This insight day will give you an overview of the various career paths within architecture.

We are a creative, international design studio experienced in making buildings and places where people do better. We use this experience to question traditional typologies, challenging what a particular building might look like, how it might be used, and the ways it can impact society.

We are recognised for our work in architectural design and placemaking. Our team of over ninety architects, designers and technologists deliver projects of varying scale and complexity for clients internationally. Established in Newcastle in 1962, a studio culture of innovation and research has been a cornerstone of our process from day one.

We employ a diverse range of staff who support the design process, and enable us to deliver projects across the UK, in Europe and worldwide. The practice is owned and run by nine partners, some are equity partners and some are salaried partners. All are qualified professionals who joined the practice as architects. There are currently sixty-one architects in our practice. Each year, we take between six and eight year-out students who are either at Part I or Part II stages of their courses of study at university. Some of them return to work for us on a permanent basis, whilst others join us from other universities or architectural practices.

Architects follow different career paths within the practice, some becoming associates or senior associates with specialist skills in certain sectors of work.

We also employ twenty-five technical managers and architectural technologists. They follow similar paths to the architects, attending university or college on full-time or part-time courses, and reaching senior director level within the practice. In addition to these staff, we engage specialists such as interior designers, graphic designers and model makers, as well as a host of support staff in different roles: IT, studio support, finance and HR services, PR and marketing, bid co-ordination and administration. We offer a wide range of careers and opportunities to those who are willing to work hard, to gain qualifications, skills and experience to support our business.
