National University Week 2022-340

National University Week is taking place from 23-27 May and is aimed at students considering University as their next step, but are unsure of how to choose the right course and the right place to study.

We’ve got some fantastic sessions lined up over the week from UCAS, Prospects and The Student Room giving application advice, plus great sessions with Nottingham Trent University, College of Fashion & Design, and the University of Liverpool to name a few, all delivering live session with Q&A to answer those burning questions on anything to do with University life.

May 23, 10:00 am – 11:00 am: CHOOSING A COURSE AND UNIVERSITY PLUS Q&A

With so many courses and so many universities out there, picking the right one for you can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. Join Jonathan from the University of Kent as he takes you through some top tips and advice on how to go about making the right decision for you. We will cover some of the key things to look out for when researching courses, as well as the important differences between campus and city universities, followed by time for your own questions.  Whether you’ve already decided to go to university or you’re still making up your mind, this session aims to equip you with the knowledge you need to find the best option for you.

 

May 23, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: THRIVING AT UNIVERSITY

This workshop covers aspects of university life and identifies areas and strategies to ease the transition to higher education.

 

May 23, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm:  UNLOCK YOUR GREATNESS WITH UA92

The team at UA92 will be running a character and personal development session which will arm you with techniques to help you build confidence and prepare for success both at university and in your personal life.

 

May 24, 10:00 am – 11:00 am: SEA, STUDY AND SUCCEED: STUDYING IN THE SOUTH WEST!

The University of Plymouth is situated in Britain’s Ocean City. Come along to our talk where you can discover what the beautiful region has to offer in terms of education and lifestyle!  A member of the Outreach team and student ambassadors will talk about their experiences of living and studying in Plymouth and key things to consider when deciding on a course and university. There will be the opportunity to get all of your questions answered by our current students.

 

May 24, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: STUDY DIGITAL CREATIVE ARTS IN LONDON

Join Escape Studios’ talk to find out about studying digital creative arts, including visual effects, animation and video game art, in London. In this session, a student advisor will explain the career options you can aspire to in the creative industries, and the benefits of studying in a small specialist institution in central London.

 

May 24, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: A SIMPLE GUIDE TO CHOOSING THE RIGHT UNIVERSITY

If you’re planning to study for a degree, you’ve got more than 100 universities to choose from. So where do you start? In this session, students and experts share quick tips that can help you find your ideal uni.

 

May 25, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: RESEARCH TOOLS AND HOW TO APPLY USING UCAS

We’ll be showing you tools and content you can use to help you decide on your next steps, whether that’s going to uni, college or doing an apprenticeship. We’ll also be sharing top tips and advice for getting your application in on time and your personal statement perfect, so join us as we take you through exactly what you need to know to get where you want to be.

 

May 26, 10:00 am – 11:00 am: STUDY IN SCOTLAND!

Scotland is a world class study destination with leading universities which offer an outstanding student experience and fantastic graduate prospects. Come along to learn more about what Scotland’s student cities have to offer in a fun, interactive and dynamic format. The session will also include the famous Study in Scotland Kahoot quiz!

 

May 26, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: A SPOTLIGHT ON THE ADVANTAGES OF DOING A DEGREE

Why go to uni? A look at regional labour markets, graduate salaries, employer expectations and what can you do with your degree. How will university develop your skills?  Student panel: Two recent graduates will be taking us through their university journeys and will be on hand for a Q&A.

 

May 26, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: CHOOSING THE RIGHT COURSE AND UNIVERSITY AND HOW TO APPLY

This session will cover the different types of courses and Universities, offer some practical advice on how to choose the right course and University and explain the UCAS application process and timeline.

 

May 27, 10:00 am – 11:00 am: CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE EXCITING WORLD OF FASHION

This session is designed to shine a light on all the different and varied careers within the Fashion Industry, with a particular focus on media.  It is a very opaque industry, with so many preconceived ideas about the business and opportunities available. Zoe will be demystifying some of the most  popular roles, discussing how the industry is evolving as well as covering the types of skill sets that students will need to succeed in getting into this exciting and creative world.
