If you’re interested in a career in Northern Ireland’s growing digital engineering sector, training opportunities are now available. If you’re selected and successfully complete the academy, you’ll gain industry-recognised qualifications and potentially receive a job offer from PA Consulting.

PA Consulting, a global innovation and transformation consultancy with over 2,600 specialists worldwide, is continuing to expand and enhance its digital expertise with the creation of 400 jobs in Belfast over the next four years.
The move builds on PA’s existing digital innovation, transformation, design and engineering expertise and their recent acquisition of leading digital insight and strategy agency, Sparkler. At a time when new technologies, business models and customer expectations are disrupting the ways organisations create and capture value, PA works with clients worldwide in both the public and private sectors to diffuse the threats and seize new opportunities through sustainable digital transformation. The company has already recruited a team of nearly 40 people, including 25 digital specialists.
The Department for the Economy are running a series of Assured Skills academies to provide pre-employment skills training for 155 of the 400 jobs to ensure the new recruits are able to hit the ground running.
Academy
The PA Consulting Digital Engineering Academy is supported by the Department for the Economy and delivered in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College.
The 9 week programme is designed to equip participants with relevant skills and certifications to become a Digital Engineer, and during the Academy the participants will become proficient in Java, SQL and HTML/CSS/Java Script, Building REST API’s, and building Java Web Applications using Spring Boot.
Participants who successfully complete the training will receive an interview with the company, and a potential offer of full-time employment with a starting salary in the range of £25,000 to £27,000 per annum.
The closing date for applications is 4.00pm, Friday 7 February 2020.
The selection process will include an online application, CV sifting and an interview, with the requirement to upload both the applicant’s CV and proof of qualification.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview with PA Consulting week commencing 2 March 2020. Training for successful applicants will take place in Belfast Metropolitan College, e3 Campus, Belfast, commencing Thursday 26 March 2020.
