Structure of the VFX in Film Academy:

What is VFX in Film?  Visual Effects (VFX) is the art of combining computer-generated (CG) sequences with live-action footage to create scenes that can’t be filmed in real life. Using a combination of technical and artistic skills alien landscapes, enormous crowd scenes or fire-breathing dragons can be brought to our screens.

The Visual Effects for Film Academy will be led by the talented VFX Compositor, Rachel Hynds. VFX in Film Academy will be predominantly based in Nerve Belfast. The structure will include  a weekly three hour online session for the first six weeks over Zoom. On location training on the set of Human Error (dates TBC due to restrictions). After the shoot, sessions will resume over Zoom weekly for the remainder of the academy.

You will gain experience and understanding on software such as Nuke, Blender, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. You will cover topics such as greenscreen compositing, CG Modelling and shooting for VFX and gain a credit on a film which you can add to your showreel.

Due to the nature of this academy some of the sessions will be in person in order to prepare for the shoot.  Specific dates for set visits are to be decided and will depend on Covid restrictions.
