ScreenWorks: Work Experience Opportunities in June!

What is ScreenWorks?
A work experience programme, supported by Northern Ireland Screen and delivered by Into Film.
It provides the opportunity to learn about the craft and technical roles that are vital to the screen industries (film, television, animation, VFX and gaming).
Young people, aged 14–19 will take part in practical 3–5 day programmes in a range of areas, including make-up, set construction, concept art and costume.
Programmes will be led by local professionals and offer career guidance relevant to the Northern Ireland screen industries
Colouring & Grading with Scott Ferguson. Date: 6 – 8 June . Location: Belfast . Ages: 14-19 This ScreenWorks programme includes; . Introduction to colouring software DaVinchi Resolve . Colour theory and using colour in film . Colour Correcting vs Colour Grading . Using colour to change the look of a piece of film – eg, thriller, rom-com, documentary Scott is a colourist at Yellowmoon Post Production with over 10 year experience in both final colour and dailies colour. He has worked on shows like Game Of Thrones, Line Of Duty, Derry Girls and movies like Dungeons & Dragons, High Rise and Here Before. Projects that he has worked on have been nominated for Best Colour at the Colorist Awards 4 times.

Story Development with Amanda Verlaque. Date: 13 – 16 June . Location: Belfast . Ages: 14-19 . Choosing the style/format . 3 Act and 5 Act structures . Mapping out the idea Amanda has 25 years’ experience as an award winning script editor, storyliner, producer and executive producer on dramas such as Holy Cross, Red Rock and Ups & Downs for broadcasters and companies including BBC, RTE, Element Pictures and Tiger Aspect. She now writes for stage, screen and VR. Her play This Sh*t Happens All The Time recently finished a critically acclaimed run at The Lyric Theatre, Belfast. She’s just made her debut as a director for VR with her short film Egg, produced by RETìníZE.

Prop Costume with Enda Kenny. Date: 20 – 23 June . Location: Belfast . Ages: 14-19 . Creating a suit of armour . Practice fabrication techniques and paint methods to create a battle worn effect . Measure, cut and mould fabrics . Age and breakdown costume to create a lived-in effect Enda is an award winning costume designer based in Belfast. |
TV Development with Stellify Media. Date: 29 June – 1 July . Location: Belfast . Ages: 14-19 . Devising an idea for a Factual Entertainment TV Show . Creating a poster and visual materials . Pitching your idea to one of the leading producers of Factual Entertainment TV in the UK Stellify Media is one of Northern Ireland’s leading producers of factual entertainment television. Best known for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Blind Date and original shows including, Flinch, No Place like Tyrone, and Secret Body, their award-winning content has been shown across the world. |
