South West College (SWC) are preparing to celebrate Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week which runs from 26-30 April 2021. The Colleges showcase virtual event ‘Get Engineering’, will take place on Tuesday 27 April from 5:30-7:00pm and will demonstrate to prospective apprentices and employers the benefits of becoming and hiring an apprentice. Aspiring apprentices will also hear about upcoming recruitment opportunities from a range of local engineering companies.
The event will offer visitors the chance to hear from potential employers and discover what apprenticeships are available at the College.
The Virtual careers event will take the format of interactive online webinars with a live Q+A function and will be hosted live on You Tube Premiere.
The event, organised by SWC in conjunction with local employers, will offer visitors the chance to find out more about local engineering apprenticeship opportunities starting from September 2021. The event will promote the College’s range of apprenticeship options available to young people and is suitable for both A Level and GCSE school leavers.
The event is designed to showcase the opportunities available in the local area and to open visitors minds to the huge variety of apprenticeships on offer in their community.
Prospective apprentices are encouraged to pre-register for the event and should log on to the Colleges website at www.swc.ac.uk/NIAW to register and be in with their chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher.
Led by the Department for the Economy, the annual week-long celebration aims to raise the profile of apprenticeships across Northern Ireland by bringing together partners including local councils, employers, universities, further education colleges and private training providers. The week will offer an opportunity through a dedicated series of events and promotional activity to demonstrate how apprenticeships work for individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy.
The week will be an opportunity for prospective apprentices to learn about the range of apprenticeships and higher-level apprenticeships available at the College.
SWC will be highlighting the opportunities available at the college by showcasing courses, recruitment opportunities, career pathways and industry connections and providing insights and personal experiences from past and present apprentices.
