AN INSIGHT INTO CAREERS IN OPTOMETRY

This online Optometry event will offer potential students a chance to meet a specialist hospital Optometrist, an Optometry lecturer and current student Optometrists. You will learn what it takes to be an Optometry student and what different roles are open to modern Optometrists by attending a short lecture and joining a relaxed and fun online practical session. The session will be interactive so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions about what it is like to train and be an Optometrist.

A professional Optometrist is trained to detect visual problems, mandefects of sight and prescribe visual aids using advanced instrumentation and clinical judgement. Modern Optometrists also have the ability to manand treat eye disease while working in hospital clinics and high street practices. Qualified graduates go on to careers in hospital practice, high street practice, the optical industry, vision science research and academia.

COME ALONG TO HEAR MORE ABOUT A CAREER IN ART PSYCHOTHERAPY

This is an interactive session which will give you an introduction to the profession of Art Psychotherapy. We will commence with a 15-20 minute art making opportunity, so participants are asked to have paper and drawing materials close to hand. We will then outline the rudiments of the Art Psychotherapy process, making reference to anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, self-harming, suicide and sexual abuse. The session will then help you to identify training courses and possible career opportunities. Time will be allocated at the end of the session for the sharing and reflection on some of the artwork created at the beginning. The session will end with a interactive Q&A session
