How should I apply?

The quickest and easiest way to apply is through your online account and it only takes 30 minutes.

If you’re a new student, you’ll need to create an account with us when applying.

You may already have an account if you have applied for student finance before or received EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance). If so, you should use the same account details and CRN.

If you’re a continuing student, you can re-apply on your online account.

Part-time undergraduate and postgraduate Master’s students

Postgraduate applications are expected to open from late April.

Part-time undergraduate applications are expected to open from mid-May.

To make sure you receive your first payment at the start of term, you must have applied and sent all of the evidence required by 30 April 2025.

‼️ Most students are able to receive a basic rate of student finance without any household income information. Your parents’ household income information could mean you can borrow more, and in some instances, receive additional grants.
Please note, if you wish to have your student finance assessed on your parents’ income then they must input their details online at the time of you completing your application, including their National Insurance (NI) numbers as Student Finance will use the NI number to check parental income directly with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
In order to submit information online, parents need to create their own Student Finance NI account which will be linked to your account.
