Teaching with Technology

On Friday, 25th October, ten schools from the Omagh Learning Community gathered to share best practices and explore ways to maximize the use of technology in the classroom and beyond. Over 350 teachers filled the auditorium at the Strule Arts Centre to hear keynote speaker Mr. Hugh Meenagh deliver an exciting insight into the use of AI and Microsoft Copilot. Hugh illustrated how AI could reduce teacher workloads while enhancing student learning experiences.

Following Hugh’s presentation, teachers from Omagh CBS, Loreto Grammar School, Omagh High School, and Sacred Heart College showcased examples of good practice in using Microsoft OneNote, Teams, Office 365, and AI in Action.

The group then moved to Omagh CBS, where a total of 21 EdTech subject meetings took place. This gave subject teachers the opportunity to meet and share best practices with their counterparts from other schools, fostering relationships for continuous learning.

After a sumptuous lunch provided by the fantastic canteen staff of Omagh CBS, 44 TeachMeet sessions were delivered. Teachers attended four sessions based on their areas of interest.

This staff development day was a fantastic opportunity for teachers and senior leaders to learn how teaching with technology can positively impact everyone in the school. We would like to thank all the staff who contributed to making today’s training such a wonderful success.
