When You Arrive

King’s College Campus (all subjects excluding Medicine)

On arrival, you’ll need to register and collect your Welcome Pack; there are registration and information points throughout campus – look out for our gazebos or make your way to Elphinstone Hall. Your Welcome Pack will include a full programme and map and our experienced Student Ambassadors will be available to help you throughout the day.

Foresterhill Campus (Medicine students)

If you are interested in studying medicine please go directly to Foresterhill where our medicine team will be running a separate programme for you between 10:00 – 13:00. You are very welcome to come down to King’s College Campus throughout the day to see other aspects of the university.

Information and Assistance

Our Student Ambassadors will be available around campus in red hi-viz vests in case you have any questions (or get lost!). Alternatively, make your way to one of our Information Points around campus or on Elphinstone Lawn at the heart of the campus.

Most events will take place around King’s College and Elphinstone Hall.

Buses

There will be a series of complementary buses running on the Open Day. Please see the timetables below for more information about the buses. (Note that, at this time, the buses are not wheelchair accessible however we are working with the bus company to see if this can change.) See bus information

Food

We have several independent cafes on campus, which offer a range of food options. We will also be offering our amazing lunchtime BBQ (V, VE, GF) on Elphinstone Lawn for you to enjoy!  A number of the University operated cafes will also be open at Suttie Centre, the Sir Duncan Rice Library and the Students Union Building between 10:00 – 14:00. The options will be outlined in full in the Open Day Guide.

Safety and First Aid

For your own personal safety, please ensure that you obey all safety and warning signs whilst on campus. If there is an emergency, please alert a Student Ambassador or the nearest member of University staff. If a fire alarm sounds, you must evacuate the building via the nearest emergency exit and remain outside until you are told otherwise. Please do not use any lifts under these circumstances.

First Aiders will be available on the day if required. If you need First Aid assistance, please make your way to the Information Point in Elphinstone Hall and a member of staff will assist you.

Disability Awareness

If you would like to discuss issues relating to studying at the University of Aberdeen and disability, please visit the Student Support information stand in Elphinstone Hall. You can advise us of any individual needs you might have on the Open Day booking form.

A British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will be present at some general talks (marked in the Open Day Guide) and may also be able to provide translation at a subject talk if requested. Please speak to one of our event organisers outside Elphinstone Hall.

If you wish to arrange an individual appointment with the Disability Advisor, please contact Student Support Services at student.disability@abdn.ac.uk. Please note that without a pre-arranged appointment there is no guarantee that you will be seen on the day.

Who should attend?

Everyone is welcome to attend Open Day regardless of when you plan to begin your studies with us. You are welcome to come on your own, with parents, teachers and other guidance staff, or as part of a school party.

For those who can’t make it along on the day, we also operate an open door policy whereby you can book a separate visit on a different date – find out more about our private visits
