Magdalene Webinar Series

 

Magdalene College is hosting several outreach webinars throughout the year to inform students about various topics relating to University. A member of the admissions team and current students will be discussing a range of topics listed below. There will also be a Q&A at the end of each webinar.

Apply: Cambridge applicant support programme

 

This free, intensive online programme will work with you every step of the way over a 6-month period, helping you navigate the admissions process and effectively prepare for your Cambridge application. Our information, advice and guidance is delivered by Cambridge staff, student mentors and Admissions Tutors, who will share their expertise on the application process, supporting you to make a competitive application to Cambridge.

 

Deadline: 1st April, 12am

 

Date: June 2026-January 2027

 

Open to: state school students in Year 12 (S5 – Scotland, Y13 – N.I), applying to Cambridge in October 2026

University of Cambridge Applicant Webinar Series

 

Our Applicant Webinar Series guides prospective students, their advisers and supporters through every step of the application process for 2027 entry.

Each online session is free to attend and includes a presentation followed by a live Q&A with admissions staff and current students.

Whether you’re just starting to explore Cambridge or are in the final stages of your application, these sessions will give you practical insights into every step of the process.

In-person Taster Days, Residentials and Open Days

Subject-focused events are a great way for students to gain an insight into a subject they’re interested in applying for at university, as well as an opportunity to explore an area of the subject in more depth to support their ongoing supracurricular exploration. These can also be an opportunity to visit the University of Cambridge and its Colleges.

St. Catharine’s College History Taster Day

 

The day will involve sessions with academics, talks on admissions, and the chance to talk to current students and staff at the university. Lunch is provided for all students, and a full travel bursary is available for any students who are currently in receipt of Free School Meals, or who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point over the past 6 years.

She Talks Science STEP Summer School

 

Murray Edwards offers a 3-day residential summer camp specifically aimed at preparing year 12 women and non-binary people to sit the STEP exam – with truly fantastic results!

Students who attend the summer school leave feeling much more confident in their mathematical ability; with a greater understanding of the STEP paper; and as part of a community of like-minded female mathematicians.

The summer school is completely free: the meals and accommodation are provided by the College.

Divinity Faculty Open Day

 

Get a taste of what it’s like to study Theology, Religious Studies, and the Philosophy of Religion with us. We’re setting up taster lectures, tours, mock supervisions, application guidance, and more. Interact with our lecturers and current undergraduate students as you consider what to pursue in your next steps in Higher Education.

Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic Open Day

 

On this Open Day, the teaching staff will describe the courses they provide, the kinds of materials studied, the range of choices the Tripos offers, and the kinds of employment our graduates move into. There will be opportunities to put questions to staff and current students and to ask advice about application procedures for both prospective students and accompanying parents. Lunch will be provided and an optional visit to a College Library to view Anglo‑Saxon and other medieval manuscripts will follow the presentations.

Oxbridge Classics Open Day

 

The 2026 Oxbridge Classics Open Day is a chance to find out more about applying to study Classics at Oxford and Cambridge, with course presentations, taster lectures, and opportunities to ask questions to current students and academics. Options to attend in person and online are available.

A Deeper Field of View: The Medieval Foundations of our World

.       Share your passion for the past and explore all things medieval

Care-Experienced and Estranged Students Visit Day

 

Realise, the University’s information service for care-experienced and estranged applicants, will host a Spring Visit Day at St. John’s College. This event offers care-experienced and estranged young people an opportunity to visit Cambridge and learn more about applying.

Topics covered during the day will include:

.      applying to university

.      student finance

.      widening participation programmes

Lunch and a tour of St. John’s will be included. Realise can provide attendees with a train ticket to Cambridge.
