Volunteering Opportunities – WHSCT

The Western Health & Social Care Trust (WHSCT)  are pleased to offer Volunteering Opportunities within the Trust.

Volunteers play an important role within services, working in a variety of departments alongside staff and helping to enhance the patient and visitor experience to our hospitals and community settings.

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to help your own community and is a rewarding way to dedicate your time to a cause you care about. Through volunteering you can develop new skills, achieve personal goals, take on a different challenge and develop friendships.

Please see below WHSCT’s  Volunteering Flyer which gives details of the Volunteering roles which are currently available. These include Meet & Greet, Ward Helper and Meal Time Helper.

Some roles will require an Access NI check – due to the nature of the tasks or the location in which they are volunteering, this includes Ward/Day Centre based roles.

We would encourage Volunteers to take on the Meet and Greet role whilst they await their Access NI check to come through.

The minimum age to be able to volunteer is 16, we have no upper age limit. A Volunteer Registration pack can be requested by emailing one of the team or emailing Volunteering@westerntrust.hscni.net or alternatively telephoning 02871 611 155.

Once the completed forms have been received, staff can help  choose which Volunteer role is best suited, based on volunteer’s interests and skills.

All  volunteers will have an induction session with the Volunteering team whilst any relevant additional training will be provided depending on the role.

Further information can be found on the “Volunteering” section on the WHSCT website, Volunteering | Western Health & Social Care Trust (hscni.net) including contact details.
