Year 8 Park Run

park run news

On Friday 11th October all our Year 8 pupils participated in a Park Run at Omagh Leisure Complex. This was followed by soccer games. Many thanks to the Senior Prefects and BTEC Sport students for helping as marshals and for refereeing the games.

The Year 8 pupils and their form teachers raised a considerable sum of money through sponsorship before completing the Park Run route.

The proceeds from this years event were split between The Enda Dolan Foundation and Friends of Kevy, (charitable organisations named after two former pupils taken from us in tragic circumstances).

This week  the family of past pupil Kevin McCartan, who was tragically killed in 1999, collected a cheque for £1950. Kevin was a key figure in CBS football teams and a proud member of the Errigal Ciaran GAA club.  This money will be used to help fund the Kevin McCartan Technology Suite in a secondary school in Lusaka, Zambia. – currently being developed by The Spirit of Paul McGirr foundation.

Pictured with the McCartan family receiving the proceeds are (left to right) Darragh McAnenly (Errigal Ciaran representative), James Molloy (The Friends of Kevy), Malachi Donnelly (Head Prefect), Sinead McCartan, Maura McCartan, Stephen McCartan, Luke Gormley (Deputy Head Prefect), Foncy McConnell (Principal), Ciarán McBride (Event Coordinator).
